Mega Millions Dream Update

As promised, here's the latest Mega Millions update. It looks like all the internet chatter about a non-winner were horribly mistaken. Early this morning it was announced that 3 winners will be sharing the highest lottery jackpot in history. The 3 lucky players come from Illinois, Kansas, and Maryland.

Each winning ticket is expected to be worth $213 Million before taxes. Wow!

Well, for us not-so-lucky hopefuls, don't feel down. Last night might not have been your lucky night, but the Mega Millions is here to stay, you could still be next. Congratulations to those who won! Til next time my lovelies!

Are You Sure It's Canned Cinnamon Rolls?!

Back when I lived in Arizona, I used to live not 5 minutes from the mall where a Cinnabon was located. At least once a week, on my cheat day, I would venture to the mall just a few minutes after the Cinnabon opens up so I can get me a piece from the first batch they made that day. Oddly, as I'm typing this I am imagining those days and I can almost smell the fresh aroma of cinnamon sugar, butter, and that soft gooey dough of freshly baked Cinnamon Rolls, my mouth is watering. As I snap back to reality, I am reminded that those Cinnabon cheat days are over as there is not one lick of a Cinnabon shop anywhere near where I live. To relieve my cravings for these fluffy goodness, I have resulted to buying canned Cinnamon Rolls (the horror!). And if you haven't tried those yet, it does not taste remotely close to the real deal at all. My solution, vamp up what's in the can and made it my own!

The Mega Millions Dream

As we all know by now, the Mega Millions jackpot has risen to an all-time high and setting a world record for highest jackpot yet to be won in a lottery worth $640 Million. Businesses selling Mega Millions tickets noticed an influx of customers and many first-timers flocking in to their place of business just to purchase the possible golden ticket. Now rumor has it that no one won pot of gold, therefore and if true, will make next week's jackpot prize even higher. It is expected that Tuesday's prize will be worth around $900 Million or more (crrrazy)! Well, we shall all find out soon enough whether the rumor mill was simply running off hot air or there will be another world record set. I'll keep you all posted!

Alicia Silverstone, ever heard of a food processor?

As a mom, I would do whatever is humanly possible to provide the best care for my children. However, Alicia Silverstone has taken mothering to a whole new level. Have you all seen the video she posted of herself and her son on Youtube? For those who haven't, I've embedded the video below. You be the judge of this bird-like behavior.

Yummy Dumplings

I was once asked to try Chicken and Dumplings at a family get-together. Call me a naive little Asian, but I somehow thought these things would taste like potstickers (you know those white half moon shaped things called "dumplings" at Chinese restaurants). Boy was I wrong. Now this was the first Chicken and Dumplings I have ever tried, therefore, I don't exactly know if they all taste like boiled dough balls. So I thought I'd make one that actually tastes like something other than that.

This is a very easy recipe, and my husband who swore off Chicken and Dumplings a long time ago is now hooked. I add these dumplings to my Chicken Noodle recipe. I do have to add 2 more cups of water since the dumplings do thicken the consistency of the soup and just add a little bit more salt, garlic powder, and pepper to taste. But feel free to add these dumplings to your soup recipe and call it your own.

Filipino Pandesal Recipe (Pan de Sal)

Wow I haven't been on here for a while and to those who have checked for updates since my brief absence, I truly apologize. It has been a busy time for us at BowWowDivas. Holidays, though hardly in comparison to Christmas and Thanksgiving, seem to make people want to spend money. Hey, and that is alright with us! All work matters aside, I managed to find time to perfect a bread recipe I have been working on for some time now, the Pandesal.

Back home in the Philippines, the Pandesal is a staple in every Filipino's breakfast selection. As a kid, my mother would always have some freshly baked Pandesal picked up from the first batch made from the neighborhood bakery. Paired with a hot cup of coffee, we were ready to dip and devour. So to all my Pinoy friends who doesn't have access to a Filipino bakery, here's an easy to follow recipe for Pandesal that you'll surely love.
