Beautify Your Switches and Outlets

After putting up new curtains, I wanted to spice up the room some more without going overboard. I looked around as I thought of what to do next. Then I saw the cream-colored light switch which stood out from the stark white walls. Those bad boys needed to go!

Mega Millions Dream Update

As promised, here's the latest Mega Millions update. It looks like all the internet chatter about a non-winner were horribly mistaken. Early this morning it was announced that 3 winners will be sharing the highest lottery jackpot in history. The 3 lucky players come from Illinois, Kansas, and Maryland.

Each winning ticket is expected to be worth $213 Million before taxes. Wow!

Well, for us not-so-lucky hopefuls, don't feel down. Last night might not have been your lucky night, but the Mega Millions is here to stay, you could still be next. Congratulations to those who won! Til next time my lovelies!

Are You Sure It's Canned Cinnamon Rolls?!

Back when I lived in Arizona, I used to live not 5 minutes from the mall where a Cinnabon was located. At least once a week, on my cheat day, I would venture to the mall just a few minutes after the Cinnabon opens up so I can get me a piece from the first batch they made that day. Oddly, as I'm typing this I am imagining those days and I can almost smell the fresh aroma of cinnamon sugar, butter, and that soft gooey dough of freshly baked Cinnamon Rolls, my mouth is watering. As I snap back to reality, I am reminded that those Cinnabon cheat days are over as there is not one lick of a Cinnabon shop anywhere near where I live. To relieve my cravings for these fluffy goodness, I have resulted to buying canned Cinnamon Rolls (the horror!). And if you haven't tried those yet, it does not taste remotely close to the real deal at all. My solution, vamp up what's in the can and made it my own!

The Mega Millions Dream

As we all know by now, the Mega Millions jackpot has risen to an all-time high and setting a world record for highest jackpot yet to be won in a lottery worth $640 Million. Businesses selling Mega Millions tickets noticed an influx of customers and many first-timers flocking in to their place of business just to purchase the possible golden ticket. Now rumor has it that no one won pot of gold, therefore and if true, will make next week's jackpot prize even higher. It is expected that Tuesday's prize will be worth around $900 Million or more (crrrazy)! Well, we shall all find out soon enough whether the rumor mill was simply running off hot air or there will be another world record set. I'll keep you all posted!

Alicia Silverstone, ever heard of a food processor?

As a mom, I would do whatever is humanly possible to provide the best care for my children. However, Alicia Silverstone has taken mothering to a whole new level. Have you all seen the video she posted of herself and her son on Youtube? For those who haven't, I've embedded the video below. You be the judge of this bird-like behavior.

Yummy Dumplings

I was once asked to try Chicken and Dumplings at a family get-together. Call me a naive little Asian, but I somehow thought these things would taste like potstickers (you know those white half moon shaped things called "dumplings" at Chinese restaurants). Boy was I wrong. Now this was the first Chicken and Dumplings I have ever tried, therefore, I don't exactly know if they all taste like boiled dough balls. So I thought I'd make one that actually tastes like something other than that.

This is a very easy recipe, and my husband who swore off Chicken and Dumplings a long time ago is now hooked. I add these dumplings to my Chicken Noodle recipe. I do have to add 2 more cups of water since the dumplings do thicken the consistency of the soup and just add a little bit more salt, garlic powder, and pepper to taste. But feel free to add these dumplings to your soup recipe and call it your own.

Filipino Pandesal Recipe (Pan de Sal)

Wow I haven't been on here for a while and to those who have checked for updates since my brief absence, I truly apologize. It has been a busy time for us at BowWowDivas. Holidays, though hardly in comparison to Christmas and Thanksgiving, seem to make people want to spend money. Hey, and that is alright with us! All work matters aside, I managed to find time to perfect a bread recipe I have been working on for some time now, the Pandesal.

Back home in the Philippines, the Pandesal is a staple in every Filipino's breakfast selection. As a kid, my mother would always have some freshly baked Pandesal picked up from the first batch made from the neighborhood bakery. Paired with a hot cup of coffee, we were ready to dip and devour. So to all my Pinoy friends who doesn't have access to a Filipino bakery, here's an easy to follow recipe for Pandesal that you'll surely love.

Easy Quicky Hearty Chicken Noodle Soup

It's 5:00pm and you're stuck in rush hour traffic. You're almost certain you won't make it on time to pick up your children from day care. By the time you all get home, you are too exhausted to even think of dinner much less make it. This scenario has happened to me more than once, and I'm sure a lot of working moms out there can relate to this as well. To avoid the temptation of simply sticking pizza in the oven and disrupt the well-balanced diet I'm trying so hard to instill into my children's lifestyle, I've created a quick and foolproof semi-homemade recipe for a Hearty Chicken Noodle and Vegetable Soup.

I have tried several versions of homemade Chicken Noodle Soup before and this one seems to be the easiest to make and healthiest version without sacrificing any of the flavors. Hope your family enjoys it as much as mine does!

SafSlim, Effective or Not?

The one time I tuned in to watch the Dr. Oz show was during an episode where Montel Williams made an appearance plugging this product called SafSlim. For those who missed the episode or have never heard of this product, it is a non-conventional weight loss supplement that specifically triggers stubborn belly fat.  Long story short, I was more than eager to run to the store and get my hands on this.

I have two kids, I hit the gym 4 to 5 days a week, and I try to stay away from the dessert table as if touching it would give me warts. But like most moms, or most women for that matter, I have that one stubborn area on my lower abdominal region.

Chapped No More

Having to battle the winter blues is bad enough, we have to battle dry skin and chapped lips too. I have yet to find a lotion that will leave my skin soft and smooth all day long (and I've tried a lot). However, I've found the magic stick that will help with the latter.  I'm talking about the Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm. This awesome lip balm with its unique shape definitely does exactly what is says it would do. It quickly eliminates the cracked lip look and adds a hint of color to your lips. It also packs SPF20 to protect your lips and keep it looking healthy. It comes in six different shades to match every skin tone. Having this with you is like carrying around a Chapstick and a lipstick at the same time. It retails for $8.99 in most stores and less at others, a bit pricey for a lip balm. But if you think about it, with all that it offers, it is still cheaper to own a stick of Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm than buying both a Chapstick and a lipstick to attain the same results.

I use the Healthy Blush and Fresh Plum shades, and with my olive-toned skin, it looks great! My soft lightly tinted lips always get complimented and I'm sure yours will too. Give it a try and see the difference for yourself.

No Knead To Do That

My aunt loves giving just-coz-i-want-to presents (which I love by the way), and recently she sent me a bread maker. My first thought upon seeing what was inside the box was, "this is going to the attic." This thing was a beast, it was like a toaster on steroids, and I seriously did not know what to do with it. I mean, who really makes their own bread at home anymore? I live not 5 minutes away from a Super Target and a gigantic Meijer that my bread selection is never scarce. However, my brief moment of idiocy quickly passed. The kids were taking their afternoon nap, I have an hour or two to spare, why not make me some bread. I lugged the bread maker to the kitchen and started gathering ingredients from the Google search I did just a few days ago for "Molasses Bread from Cheesecake Factory".
